Fashion lovers have been having some interesting weeks. But now that the fashion weeks are almost over, it’s time to give music lovers a little treat. October is full of very exciting album releases, but the end of this month is already very promising, too. I’ve listed the 5 upcoming albums I’m looking forward to the most.
1. BANKS – Altar (September 30)
BANKS – Jillian Rose Banks – is an american singer, mostly known for her singles Waiting Game & Begging For Thread. Her debut album in 2014, Goddess, received very positive reviews. Critics praised her sonic ambient and the album’s raw sound. It seems like the upcoming album will have the same intriguing vibe. 3 songs that will be on it, were already shared through her Vevo on Youtube.
2. OneRepublic – Oh My My (October 7)
You all know pop rock band OneRepublic, no doubt. Monster hits Apologize and Stop And Stare are impossible to forget. Their 4th studio album will be modern but pure, according to frontman Ryan Tedder.
“There’s a lot of humanity, I think, missing in radio. And so we wanted to make sure that you could actually hear the human beings and the actual instruments that are in the actual songs, so that’s the last thing I’ll say. It’s new and very modern but there’s still a big dose of humanity in it because you can actually hear the players.”
They have already released two singles, Kids and Wherever I Go. And oh my my, do I love those songs. (Pun intended.)
3. Jagwar Ma – Every Now & Then (October 14)
I discovered Jagwar Ma through another Australian psychedelic band: Tame Impala. Jagwar Ma was the supporting act of Tame Impala’s European tour. I immediately looked them up after the concert and found out about their 2013 debut album Howlin’. It received high acclaim from music press. Also high profile artists – such as Noel Gallagher and The xx – praised the album. But the new album might be even better. The supporting singles O B 1 and Give Me A Reason sound very promising.
4. JoJo – Mad Love (October 14)
Ok, I admit. I’m only looking forward to this album because of my childhood heart. I used to spend hours singing Leave (Get Out) and Too Little Too Late in front of the bathroom mirror. It has been 10 years since JoJo released an album. So this is a big thing – if you’re as nostalgic minded as I am.
The promotional singles Fuck Apologies and Mad Love. make me a little confused, though. The latter is a bit jazzy and is quite interesting. Fuck Apologies on the other hand is a cooperation with Wiz Khalifa. And it is – despite its infectious chorus – just another commercial pop song, in my opinion. It could’ve easily been sung by colleague child star Selena Gomez. I’m very curious what the rest of the album will bring.
5. Tove Lo – Lady Wood (October 28)
Swedish singer and songwriter Tove Lo had her big breakthrough thanks to a remix of her song Habits (Stay High). She also wrote Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding. Enough said. This girl is talented, knows what she’s doing and will be big. Cool Girl, the lead single of Lady Wood, was released in August and shows that this album will be a bit darker and dreamier than Tove Lo’s debut album.
But that’s definitely not all what the musical future holds. You can also expect new albums by Bon Iver, Regina Spektor, Green Day, Nora Jones, Rick Astley (not rickroll trolling y’all), Jamie Lidell, Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga and much more. Told you, music lovers won’t be left empty-handed this time of the year.
