A new month has begun… and that means new music! October has some really exciting releases in store. Here are the 6 albums you absolutely can’t miss.
Tenderness – Blue Hawaii (October 6th)
The Canadian avant-pop duo Blue Hawaii is back with a follow-up to their 2013 album ‘Untogether‘. In a press release, they described their newest musical baby as a mix between Björk, the xx, and DJ Koze.
And as if that comparison didn’t have you hyped for ‘Tenderness‘ already… They also released this banging first track: No One Like You.
The Saga Continues – Wu-Tang Clan (October 13th)
Finally! A new project of the most iconic hip-hop collective of all time. This doesn’t need much explanation, People Say featuring Redman says all about how legendary this 10 track album will be.
MASSEDUCTION – St. Vincent (October 13th)
Another one of those promising albums to watch is St. Vincent’s second album. It will be very different than her previous one. She said in a statement that ‘MASSEDUCTION’ tells all about what’s going on in her life. In other words: if you want to know dirty secrets about her ex-lover Cara Delevingne, I suggest you listen to the lyrics very closely.
Jack Antonoff co-produced ‘MASSEDUCTION’. Antonoff is the master behind Lorde’s Melodrama and you can clearly hear his influences in Los Ageless, the second single from the upcoming album.
The Ooz – King Krule (October 13th)
This ginger Brit is only 23 years old but is releasing his third studio album this month. The Ooz is the second album under the name King Krule, back in 2015 he signed his album A New Place 2 Drown under his birth name Archy Marshall.
In August he released a single, Czech One, and man is it good. The experimental jazzy vibe and warm piano riffs have me all ready for the complete album, which contains 19 songs. Yes, you read that well: 18 more songs to bless your ears with!
Glasshouse – Jessie Ware (October 20th)
‘Glasshouse’ is an album with a lot of interesting collaborations. The English singer-songwriter Jessie Ware teamed up with Ed Sheeran, Cashmere Cat, Julie Michaels and many others. But to be honest, her soothing voice only is already enough of a reason to be excited about Ware’s third album.
Of the two supporting songs, ‘Midnight‘ and ‘Selfish Love‘, I can’t choose which one is my favorite. Maybe the latter, because its music video is a – romantic thriller – masterpiece.
Turn Out the Lights – Julien Baker (October 27th)
Probably the sweetest voice of today’s music industry is releasing her second album. And we hope you’re prepared to feel, because ‘Turn Out the Lights‘ is a record about mental health. Just listen to the single Appointments. The first YouTube comment says it all: “Anyone else have something in their eye?”
