Diesel Presents Its Red Tag Project by Belgian Designer Glenn Martens

Milan fashion week is at its full force. The biggest Italian brands are showing their Spring/Summer 2019 collections and street style stars are giving everything they’ve got. A new men’s fashion week also means a new Diesel Red Tag Project. After last season’s collaboration with Shayne Oliver, Diesel decided to work with Belgian-born Glenn Martens, also known as the designer of Y/Project.

The Red Tag Project is a revolutionary platform, created by Diesel. It’s conceived to host influential and globally coveted designers tasked with creating capsule collections that will be distributed exclusively by selected retailers worldwide. The project was mainly created to foster a unique dialogue and interaction between Diesel and the fashion community, a smart move from the Italian mega brand.

Diesel Red Tag x Glenn Martens

Glenn Martens created a collection that is very true to himself. If you have a good look at the designs, you can see a clear similarity with the work he does for French label Y/Project. Think slouchy trousers, voluminous shearling jackets and generous denim usage in a variety of shape structures.

The designer was inspired by Diesel slogans such as “Go With The Flaw“. Martens stated: “You need to embrace the mistake and own it—operate each piece in your own way, to make it work for you. The pieces are inspired by wardrobe basics, but there are conscious pattern manipulations, such as the hemline or waistband of a jacket being seven sizes smaller than the actual garment.”

The collection will be exclusively available in selected stores. Have a look at some of our favorite silhouettes!
