Yesterday night a young Berlin-based label Dumitrascu presented its SS18 ready-to-wear collection on a platform of the Rambuteau metro station, not far from Centre Pompidou. If you ever wonder what you’ll get if Paris street joins forces with Berlin underground, well this is your answer. It was refreshing to see a guerilla-style runway show happening in the subways of Paris for a change. And to be honest that’s something we actually expected from Vetements, if they were still doing shows. Luckily, we still have cutting-edge brands who dare to take risks in order and stand out from the masses.
You most probably didn’t notice but this was the second guerrilla show after Alexander Wangs’ in New York. Where he brought out the supermodels by a bus to the streets of NYC. That day Mica Arganaraz, Kaia Gerber, Binx Walton and more had set the catwalk on fire. Well, none of that glam spotted over here. Only dusty subway benches transformed into front row seats and a crowd of chaotic models in a hurry, dressed in Andra Dumitrascu’s edgy SS18 silhouettes. Some may find this idea crazy and some may not, but it’s all happening now and it is going to happen more.
