Everyone who ever was in search for inspiration knows that the best ideas hit you by surprise. George Marciano came up with the name of his company while passing by a McDonald’s billboard in 1981. It asked its customers to guess which eatery had the biggest cheeseburger. We don’t know anything about the exact size of burgers at that specific time. What we do know is that the name of an epic denim brand was born.
Guess became a huge success in the eighties thanks to it’s signature style: a red triangle patch, stonewashed denim and ankle zippers. It was one of the first brands to create designer jeans. Almost as famous as the collections itself were the black and white ads created by Paul Marciano. Whether it were the featured supermodels such as Claudia Schiffer and Eva Herzigova or the pictures itself, it was a bank shot. Guess turned into the epitome of a seductive denim label designed for the modern, sexy wo(man).
Now, 35 years later, a capsule collection is launched with a makeover of some of their most iconic items. Think: logo tees, crop tops and denim in various guises. We made a selection of our favorite pieces and translated the 80’s vibe in our own way. Meet Guess Originals, the modern seduction.
