Every now and then it’s time for a position switch at a fashion house. This month is Jil Sander’s turn to open their golden gates for another designer who’ll make the German fashion house great again. Nonetheless, the power couple that goes by the name of Lucie and Luke Meier is now in charge.
At the Enfnts Terribles HQ, we fully support the replacement of former creative director Rodolfo Paglialunga. Though we hope the team gave him a standing ovation for keeping his head high during his time at Jil Sander. But to be frankly honest it was about time that the German label underwent some changes. And hiring 2 new creative directors with such a strong background was definitely a must.
Who is this power duo at Jil Sanders?
Meet Lucie Meier and Luke Meier.
Swiss-born Lucie Meier has a resumé that includes a list of very legendary designer houses like Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton and Dior. Luke M., on the other hand, is from Canada. He worked at Supreme for 8 years as head of design and he’s also co-founding partner to streetwear brand OAMC.
The duo is a refreshing mix of high fashion and contemporary streetwear. No doubt that the duo will push the brand forward and make them relevant again. Starting with the Spring-Summer 2018 womenswear collection that will be designed by the power duo.
The post-Raf era
Before Raf Simons decided to take the offer at Dior, he held this house together for almost a decade. From 2005 to 2012, his recognisable minimalistic approach shook the world. Back then wearing a Jil Sander piece was considered relevant but after Raf, it was never the same again.
Hopefully, the Meier couple will take the brand where it used to be and slay their way back to the top.
