Lacoste, the French polo shirt brand, is replacing its iconic crocodile logo with ten threatened animals. It’s doing that in a limited-edition line created in partnership with a nature conservation charity. The 10 animals that are featured on the polos include the Vaquita (only 30 left in the world), the Cao-vit gibbon (with just 150 left) and the Javan rhino (67 left on the planet).
The number of polos produced for each series corresponds to the remaining population sizes in the wild. Spoiler: it’s a shockingly small amount. But it’s a great way to show just how many animals are left of certain species. The time to act is now and we should be thankful to anyone who is trying to help save the endangered species. Whether it is by bringing awareness or by raising money to actually help organizations who fight for the animals. By buying a polo, you participate in helping IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) and Lacoste in the fight for wildlife conservations worldwide.
As expected, the 1.775 polo shirts sold out in a few hours. But this shouldn’t stop you from spreading the word or from contributing to the cause, though. You can still help and participate by making a donation on Save Our Species. Learn more about the ten threatened animals on Lacoste’s website.
