Majid Al Maskati and Jordan Ullman, together: Majid Jordan. Chances are that you haven’t heard the names of this Canadian R&B duo yet, but you’ve definitely heard their music. Since getting picked up by Drake’s record label OVO Sound, they didn’t have to wait very long for their big shot. In 2013 Drake released his smash single “Hold On, We’re Going Home”. That’s where Majid Jordan came in, as these two musical geniuses are partly responsible for this hit single. They weren’t only featured on the track but actually co-produced it too.
Trusted by Drake
It was their first time working on such a big track, but certainly not their last. They went on and did “Mine” with Beyoncé and Drake, which is one of Bey’s most underrated tracks. And just last year, they used their magic powers again for some tracks on Drake’s album “Views”. But also for DJ Khaled’s “For Free”, which of course AGAIN featured Drake. So, as Drake’s name keeps returning in their music, it’s safe to say that he trusts these guys and depends on them a lot for their creativity. But now, I think it’s time for them to get their own spotlight because their work is nothing less than art.
After releasing an EP and a bunch of singles, they finally released their self-titled debut album in 2016, that’ll make you experience pure bliss. If I’d have to put some kind of label on it, I would say their music identifies as alternative R&B.
Obviously, they’re really good at what they do, but the vibe in their music is what really does it for me. And just to make a really clear example: if you and your lover feel like having some one-on-one time, put this record on. I can guarantee that it will get you in the right mood. Steamy, hot and sexy are just some words that pop-up in my head.
I can only urge you to give all of their music a listen, but here are my favorites from their album “Majid Jordan”:
- Learn From Each Other (Make sure to turn the bass up for this one)
- Make It Work
- Small Talk
- Something About You
