Make-up is art, anno 2016 there is no doubt about that. Beauty guru’s on instagram and Youtube use their faces as a canvas to paint the most crazy designs, going from Snapchat filters to the craziest blended multicolor looks. Some people take the word ‘art’ quite literally, and take inspiration from their favourite artist. Mondrian, Van Gogh, Pollock,… they all serve as a source of inspiration. And honestly, is there anything better than creative minds inspiring each other?
Mostly known for his use of graphic black lines and primarycolours, Mondrian is an ideal inspiration for artsy beauty looks, whether you want to take it all the way or keep it subtle.
Everything is possible. The easy route is of course graphic liner, easy and quick. Also: liner equals a lot of possibilities: try a small disconnected wing, for example, or go all out with a multi-faceted graphic liner. And for the people who dare: try making different colour blocks and line them with black. Instant eye art! If you want, you can even extend the colour blocking to your lips. Feel free to experiment as much as you want, there are no limits!
Action painting is isn’t only fun to do with actual paint, you can actually do this with make-up as well! Granted, it will take some practice and some time, but all great thing do, right? The trick is to think outside the box: Use different products to create the ‘splashes’ or drips, like liquid lipstick for example. Young make-up artist and the first male Cover Girl face ever, James Charles, shows us how it’s done.
SPLATTER 🎨 I spent a little while today watching watercolor videos on YouTube today and was super inspired by the beautiful technique. Here is my spin on a watercolor portrait. For the paint, I used – @anastasiabeverlyhills liquid lipsticks in the shades "Paint" & "Vamp" – @katvondbeauty liquid lipstick in "Nosferatu" – @lunatick_cosmetic_labs liquid lipsticks in "Grave Heart" & "Paranormal" – @jeffreestarcosmetics @jeffreestar lipsticks in "Drug Lord", "Jawbreaker", "Redrum"
If you want to go next level, this is the way to go. The cool thing is: with arty make-up, you can go as far as your imagination lets you go. The sky is really the limit, this Van Gogh inspired eye takes that quite literally. Next to shapes and colours, you can also play with texture, using different products on top of each other.
"Starry Night" by Van Gogh. Always fun to play with a little texture ✨ Using @jeffreestar @jeffreestarcosmetics Drug Lord, Blue Velvet, Abused and Breakfast at Tiffany's (via @makeupnetaustralia) @sugarpill Bulletproof, Buttercupcake, Tako @illamasqua Spirit Palette @katvondbeauty Trooper Tattoo Liner @inglot_australia Gel Liner 87 and 51 Body Sparkles @anastasiabeverlyhills Dipbrow in Medium Brown @mehronaustralia Yellow Paradise Paint #georginaryland #makeupforants
