As you might have seen on our social media, we went to Amsterdam to witness a one of a kind runway show. We were not alone though. International press, industry insiders and VIPs gathered in the capital of the Netherlands. They did that to see the first and final collection of the MOAM collective, in collaboration with Zalando.

Moam Amsterdam

MOAM is a creative platform for young talent. It has a unique perspective on the arts and offers multidisciplinary creatives the opportunity to collaborate with esteemed industry professionals. This time, they invited five international young designers to come live in Amsterdam for 6 months and work on a joint collection. The designers that were chosen for this unique project came from all over Europe and were selected by MOAM’s founder; Martijn Nekoui.

One of the designers was Robbie Van Mierlo, someone we’ve written about before and a personal favorite of  the Enfnts Terribles team. He’s based in Antwerp, where he graduated from the Royal Academy Of Fine Arts with a stunning collection. The others were Catherine Le Thérisien (graduated from La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne), Maximiliano Ruelas (Polimoda, Florence), Roos Boshart (the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague) and Rose Danford-Phillips ( Royal College of Art, London). The group of young designers were guided by iconic designers, such as Walter Van Beirendonck and more.

The five headed collection

On March 8, the collective showed its long awaited collection. The symbol of their work was a Chimera, a creature that was built from several different animals, according to Greek mythology. The different animals represent the different designers, who formed one collection together.

The collection itself was a gathering of 25 couture silhouettes. We have to be honest with you, to our surprise the runway show blew our minds. The garments that were shown during the presentation were well executed, high end, but still wearable and outstanding pieces of clothing. The shaping of the suits (on both women and men) was very good and different. Iconic models, such as Pat Cleveland, daughter Anna Cleveland, Sylvia van der Klooster and more walked the show.
