It’s always easy to end up going to the same restaurants, where you know the waiters, the food and wine. However, in a city like London where the restaurant offer is so incredibly, it’s fantastic to discover new gems. Last night was one of those nights, when I went to this delightful Italian restaurant called ‘Osteria Basilico’ in Notting Hill.

Osteria Basilico

Located in the charming Notting Hill, Osteria Basilico is a fabulous Italian restaurant. Very intimate and cosy, the restaurant is spread across two floors – ground floor and basement. Decked out with a lot of wood and warm tones, you feel as if you’ve been transported to a small village in Italy. The Italian staff further implement this and there truly is a great charm and aura around this place. The aura has even attracted the likes of Keira Knightley and George Clooney.

This restaurant truly works for any occasion: families, friends – but definitely a great date night spot. The dimmed lights at night will without a doubt set the tone for you and your loved one. What better way to cement your love for someone than over a heavenly pasta dish and a glass bottle of Gavi Di Gavi?

My favourite thing at Italian restaurants is to get starters to share for the table. Perhaps throw in a dish of pasta or pizza for the table. Yesterday when I went, they had the most divine white pizza with bresaola, burrata and rocket as a special. Followed it up with Veal Milanese with a side of fried zucchini. When it comes to pasta, I’ve had people rave about their pasta with shrimp and courgette. Unfortunately, yesterday I made the amateur mistake of eating too much bread before the food, which led to no dessert for me. However, in any Italian restaurant I would always recommend a tiramisu.
