For as long as we can remember, the annual Pirelli calendar has been a big deal. And compared to the most simplistic office calendars this one comes as major news. In fact, yearly they plan a photo shoot with an interesting casting and a big production. For the 45th edition, they managed to cast 18 black industry heroes. Mostly from the fashion, movie and music industry, and even social activists.

Pirelli chooses black excellence over anything else…

English photographer Tim Walker featured all 18 protagonists in an Alice in Wonderland themed storyline, with a refreshingly portion of fantasy involved and an all-black casting. In addition, the glorious calendar styled by British Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful, includes Whoopi Goldberg as the Royal Duchess, UK fashion model and feminist activist Adwoa Aboah as Tweedledee, rapper Lil Yachty as the Queen’s Guard, Sean Diddy Combs and Queen Naomi Campbell embodying the role of the Royal beheaders, the forever fierce RuPaul and male model Djimon Hounsou as King and Queen of Hearts, supermodel Duckie Thot as Alice and a few others impersonating black excellence in all its glory.
