If there’s one fashion capital in Asia that serves looks like no other, it’s Seoul. Over there, the street style stars are on another ball game. Their personal style is always one step ahead. We spotted 8 runway trends men wore at Seoul Fashion Week SS18, and it’s everything we wished for. Athleisure wear, striped button-down shirts, denim pieces, the Balenciaga Triple-S sneakers, tour merch and other trends you saw passing by last months were checked. This is what the stylish fashion week attendees wore in the streets of Seoul.
Oversized shirting, safety pins, and other metallic accessories
From Paris to Seoul fashion week the striped button-down shirt was a definite key piece for many. However, on the other side of planet earth, they do it differently. Over there proper shirting is done with additional safety pins and other metallic accessories.
Balenciaga Triple-S sneakers
After its first appearance on Balenciaga’s FW17 runway in Paris, the heavily padded, triple-soled “Triple-S” instantly became popular. Because of the big demand, these designer shoes are sold out. But we heard a restock is coming soon. We spotted Triple-S‘ in all big fashion cities. However, the way guys in Seoul styled them has a certain je ne sais quoi.
Tour merch has finally reached style staple status and it’s everywhere to be seen. Just when you thought you saw all the concert tees, we give you the sweater. This year a set of young artists, including rapper Lil Yachty and M.I.A, launched their line of merch. In general, those collections always involve one key piece (mainly a tee or sweater) with the tour visuals on it. Also, a lot of times you’ll find the tour dates printed on the back side. We highly suggest you wear a typical ‘The Ramones‘ or ‘ACDC‘ tops. These ones are timeless!
If there’s one thing, you got to have your neutrals game on lockdown. Like the guys at Seoul Fashion Week do. Are you in for a wardrobe upgrade coming season? Then slowly remove yourself from boring neutrals and make space for more earthy tones. Think soft mustard, beige/brown or even light blue and spice it up with a plaid print, or simply no print.
The next trend is one men have been wearing for decades. One that will probably never go out of style. Denim can be very versatile but let’s be real now, the great times of denim shorts and short-sleeved shirts are over. Temperatures are going down, which means we’ll probably go back to old habits this fall. What about a good ol’ denim-sur-denim for good time’s sake?
Raf’s wool knit sleeves trend
Raf Simons’ FW17 woolen sleeves made it to the streets. And it seems like the guys of Seoul are mastering this style trend already. Here’s one possible way to style them in real life.
All kinds of athleisure wear
This year’s winning trend is definitely athleisure wear. People around the globe picked up on it, they’re owning it and giving it their own twist.
