This winter we returned to the eighties (again) with a lot of oversized puffer jackets. For SS17 we go grandpa style. A budget friendly trend if you’re a bit creative. Just pay a visit to your grandparents and ask in a friendly way if you can borrow that blazer. You will probably return it once the season is over. Vintage shops are also a good solution. And when you really have some cash to spend, we suggest you go for Balenciaga, Céline, Isabel Marant Etoile or Gucci.

Balenciaga & Céline

Our official favorite checkered blazers this season are the Balenciaga ones. Definitely the design from their SS17 show with the epaulets. If you dare to go all the way, get yourself the shiny legging on top. Someone has to keep those damn eighties vibes top of mind.

When you’re not really in the oversized mood and a waist kind of person, Céline is the better option. In the spring collection of the French house it’s actually a lot about tailoring.

And of course there’s also a budget friendly version to be found at the H&M trend corner.

Gucci

Some people just aren’t made for the masculine vs feminine vibe. For them there’s a simple solution: Gucci. It’s an Italian tradition to honor women as if they were goddesses descended to brighten up planet earth. Let’s say grandpa meets sexy (that actually sounds pretty perverse but you know what we mean).

Isabel Marant Etoile

Mixing Parisian elegance with rock has always been one of Isabel Marant’s biggest talents. This season we especially like the all checkered look out of the Etoile collection. It looks rough, elegant and innocent at the same time. And we could use parts of these characteristics to bolster our image.
