For their SS18 men’s line The Kooples’ head of menswear, Alexandre Elicha, took a step away from their former tailored aesthetic to go head on against the streetwear brands. Since their beginnings the fashion house have been blessing the street style scene with loads of great it-pieces. In fact, every time we passed by their Paris, Antwerp or London shop we ended up wanting to buy the entire store. Anyways, being the big fashion retailer they are, The Kooples is once again redefining themselves. Maybe the Balenciaga meets Gosha-esque influences will only last one season, we truly don’t know. But we personally like how they intentionally translated the new wave trends in their Spring 2018 men’s collection. So here you have our favorite pieces from The Kooples spring summer 2018 collection.
Playing with plaid
We have a feeling that plaid is claiming its place as one of the most common prints. Next to stripes, plaid has been omnipresent in many of our favorite men’s collections. Whether you’re in a mood to dress up or dress down playing the plaid game is always a good idea.
This acid grey washed t-shirt has festival season written all over it. The moment the “staynoir” tee came across our screen it was mentally wishlisted. And since the summer always asks for a bunch of festival appropriate gear. There’s a good chance you’ll see us buying an approximately €80 t-shirt in one of their boutiques.
As mentioned before The Kooples have been blessing the streets with quite some good stuff. Especially their jackets and boots, that’s the reason why people go crazy (or unfortunately sometimes go broke) for the brand. This collection includes timeless pieces that you could combine and recombine with every item in your wardrobe. We’re talking about the leather jacket, varsity jacket and lightweight windbreaker you see here below.
A leopard print is risky business but The Kooples demonstrates their own way of wearing it.
