Tomorrowland 2017, an Instagram Review

Tomorrowland 2017 is over (crying emoticon) and it was epic as always. If you belong to the group of lucky ones who were able to score a ticket, you know what we’re talking about. The positive side of the story: just another 365 days and there will be a new edition. Till then, we can drool on this year’s best moments through the thousands of Instagram pictures and videos. We made a “little” selection of our favorites (if that’s even possible). This was TML 2017…

The outfits

Tomorrowland isn’t about showing off, it’s about showing who you are. Unlike other popular festivals… where the music and atmosphere are just a sideshow. How you look does matter but not in a fashionable way. Like most editions, the major trends this year were flags, no clothes at all or fully dressed up. We spotted a few typical festival looks here and there. But generally people just came for a good dose of peace, love and madness.

Welcome to the circus

Like every year there were snakes, dragons and a whole lot of fairytale elements. New this edition were the real life circus acts. At the main stage two professionals did some dangerous tricks in a gigantic hamster wheel… without any protection. There were tightrope walkers, waders and the main stage was transformed to a circustent.

And then there was music…

This is of course still the main reason why we’d go to a festival, let’s be clear about that. TML is all about EDM but every year, there are some surprises we get totally excited about. This edition’s revelation must have been Oscar And The Wolf, a Belgian band that generally plays at more rock-minded festivals. There are also loads of talents to be discovered at the smaller stages. We especially enjoyed Klingande’s set on Sunday night during the first weekend. And big names out of the house and techno scene such as Cassius, Solomun and Carl Cox never disappoint.

We can’t talk about Tomorrowland’s musical line up and not mentioning the main stage. It’s not our personal favorite but you at least need to spend there an hour or two for the experience (and fireworks). This year all the classics passed by: Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, David Guetta, Alesso, Armin Van Buuren, Nervo, Steve Aoki and Martin Garrix. We probably can’t hear any dance tune for the upcoming month but it surely was one hell of an experience.
