24 Hours in Paris: What to Do Every Hour of the Day

Paris is for lovers (yes, the romantic kind) but also the art and gallery kind, the cuisine and culture kind, and the music and movement kind. This city gets the romantic comedy write-off too much when in reality, it’s probably all the genres listed on Netflix, Disney+, and HBO, combined (horror included). The characters you encounter here and the characters you become are so unique to every season and arrondissement. Buy your ticket, hop on a plane, and stand still in this maze that is Paris from 12 am to 11:59 pm.

00:00 – 2:00

Luckily for all the night crawlers who reside in Paris, an early night simply does not exist. If anything, an early night is 2 am, and that’s usually the time at which bars close their doors. If you like a little dancing or fun activities such as table football, we’ve got the best address for your last stop before the real fun begins:

– Café Populaire (Parmentier)
– Bambino (Saint-Sébastien – Froissart)
– Le Mauri 7/Chez Jeannette (Strasbourg Saint-Denis)

2:00 – 6:00

Funnily enough, most of the conversations had in the bars are about where you’re going once the clock strikes 2 am. All signs point to—you guessed it—the club. The club scene is quite unique here, and every arrondissement has a completely different energy, which gives you plenty of options to choose from:

– Club Virage (Porte de Saint-Ouen)
– Cabaret Sauvage (Porte de la Villette)
– Pamela Club (Saint-Germain-des-Prés)

6:00-7:44

This is perhaps one of the only times when all stores and restaurants aren’t open in this city, which calls for a moment of tranquility. Catch a quiet sunrise on the Seine in our favorite spots:

– Île Saint-Louis (Pont Marie)
– Square du Vert-Galant (Pont Neuf)
– Pont Alexandre III (Invalides)

7:45 – 8:59

This is a collective average of the usual times boulangeries begin opening their doors for the early risers of Paris. We suggest you find the closest one to wherever the city has moved you to, but just in case, here are some of our favorites:

– Graine (Parmentier)
– Aki Boulangerie (multiple locations)
– BSurprises (Oberkampf)

9:00 – 10:59

If you’re in the mood to avoid the rowdier crowds, such as tour and school groups at museums and galleries, the best time to go is as early as possible. Famous museums typically open their doors at 9 am, so book your tickets and have a grand time before the afternoon wave of tourists hits you.

Bourse de Commerce

11:00 – 12:59

We can hear your stomach gurgling from miles away. It’s time to eat. Here are our top lunch/brunch spots to keep your energy levels high:

13:00 – 14:59

Paris is considered the capital of fashion, having had a vast majority of its economy centered around fashion tourism. To this day, we associate Paris with being a fashion powerhouse, and what better way to work that into our 24 hours than with a bit of vintage shopping?

– Nuovo (Filles du Calvaire)

15:00 – 15:59

Time for a little caffeine kick.

– Kott Café (Parmentier)

Buttes-Chaumont

16:00 – 17:59

The day is beginning to knock you out, and that post-meal nap isn’t helping. If you feel like doing nothing, we’ll give you the best places to do exactly that in Paris:

– Buttes-Chaumont (Buttes-Chaumont)
– Invalides (Invalides)

17:00 – 18:59

These hours are our favorite to unwind after a long day. You’ll find the best company (or quiet) around the fifth arrondissement, where many of the best bookshops are located. Whether you’re in the market for your next read, or you just love the smell of old paper, make your way across the river for the loveliest energy.

19:00 – 21:59

It’s winding down to the time when the savory lovers in us jump out. Dinner in Paris is heaven-sent, and we’ve got the best spots for your tastebuds. Just a little tip: dinner is usually late and long in this city, so expect to carve out a chunk of your schedule.

22:00 – 23:59

The best part of the night has arrived. Everyone’s bellies are full, you’re beginning the build-up before you take yourself dancing, and you are ready for a happy toast to life. Here are our favorite bars to begin the rest of your night at:

– Le Relais De Belleville (Belleville)
– Ave Maria (Parmentier)
