5 Upcoming International Acts Everyone Will Talk About in 2020

A new year also means lots of new music of established and upcoming acts and just like last year, we’re happy to introduce five fresh faces. All of these acts have something special that makes them stand out and we’re sure that everyone will be talking about them after this new year. Grab your AirPods/earphones/stereo and discover the five newcomers.

1. Celeste

Write Celeste’s name down, because the British soul singer will have one of the biggest debuts of the year. Since we met the singer in September for an exclusive interview, Celeste has released her first music video and went on tour with Michael Kiwanuka, where she blew everyone away with her insane voice. In December, she won the ‘Rising Star’ of the Brit Awards. Previous winners are a.o. Adele, Sam Smith and Jorja Smith and we have a feeling that Celeste will do at least as good as them. Her debut album is set to be released somewhere this year, with a new headline tour plotted for April. A worldstar to be!

2. Conan Gray

What started on YouTube a couple of years ago, has evolved into a music career. The 21-year-old singer Conan Gray uploaded his first YouTube video in 2013 and charmed teens all over the world with his humor and charisma. For a while now, he’s trying to conquer the music industry and it’s finally happening. His first EP Sunset Season has been compared to Lorde’s masterpiece Melodrama and major acts like Billie Eilish already fell in love with his music.

His latest single “Maniac” is so catchy and likeable that we won’t forgive y’all if you keep sleeping on Conan. With a show at Coachella festival, his first album and a documentary planned, it’s clear that the American singer will be one of the hottest breakout stars of the year.

3. Carlie Hanson

Some stories read like a modern fairytale, just ask Carlie Hanson! After working as a cashier at McDonalds, the nineteen-year-old singer-songwriter participated in a radio contest to win tickets for a concert of Zayn. A talent agent was so intrigued by her voice and personality, that he invited her to audition and the rest is history.

Last summer, Carlie Hanson released her first project Junk and was praised for her unapologetic punk-pop sound. Some even call her the Avril Lavigne of ‘Generation Z’ and embrace her for her cool style and hilarious Twitter posts. With more new music coming our way soon, we’re excited to see how this will develop.

4. BLVTH

The most popular rappers on earth are from America, Canada and the UK, but let us introduce BLVTH. The rapper is half-Polish, half-Albanian but calls Berlin his new home. Apart from spitting some dope stuff, BLVTH (pronounced as Bluth) works as a producer and is quickly evolving in the game. What we like about BLVTH’s music is that he isn’t sticking to just one specific sound, but is really hopping between different genres. His latest project I Don’t Know If I’m Happy is exactly what urban fans nowadays love, so it won’t take much longer before everyone will discover the talented artist.

5. Dreamer Boy

If you’re a musician from Nashville, Tennessee, people expect you to make country music but Zach Taylor has found his own style. As Dreamer Boy, the young artist has developed his unique sound which he labels as ‘Cowboy Pop’. The mix of bedroom pop and indie reminds us of Clairo, whom he’s been on tour with through Europe, and has a dreamy flair. In 2018, he released his first album Love, Nostalgia and shared his bright talent with the world. Zach is currently working on new music, which he’ll be releasing in the upcoming year. Believe us when we tell you, he has a lot of potential to become a heavyweight in the dream pop world very soon.
