What’s Next for Headwear?

This ready-to-wear season isn’t over yet, but everything so far was very interesting. We finally got to see the next big statement pieces we’ll be investing in sooner than later. A new coat, an it-bag or headgear. After the dad cap mania, headwear had again proved to be as important as any other garment. It’s never that expensive and it comes in handy during bad hair days. Plus, it’s the perfect accessory to complete your look of the day with. But still, one question crossed our minds: what’s next for headwear?

Gucci does Burglar Chic

When it comes to it, Gucci is a big force pushing the headwear trend to new heights. Clearly, wearing headpieces is nothing new. However, by the look of Alessandro Michele’s FW18 ready-to-wear runway, the rules clearly are different now! Faces were covered with Balaclavas, head jewelry and Russian headscarves.

Additional Bolero hats chez Alberta Ferretti’s

At Alberta Ferretti, headwear wasn’t much of a focus. However, we did spot a few studded bolero hats styled on multiple fall silhouettes. Just like Dior and Gucci, Alberta Ferretti isn’t indifferent about creating additional headgear that fits and completes their aesthetic.

Bucket hats by Prada

In 2018 workwear will be huge. Slowly but surely we’re preparing ourselves for it. We saw it during New York fashion week at Raf Simons’ show. Now Miuccia Prada too revealed her take on this FW18 trend. Between Prada’s FW18 ready-to-wear designs, you’ll find colorful construction worker vests in pink, green and blue. With matching bucket hats to finish the look.

Moschino is a flirt, Jacky Kennedy is the target

What if Jackie Kennedy was an alien? An interesting angle Jeremy Scott revisited for Moschino’s FW18 ready-to-wear collection, shown in Milan. It’s also the main reason why you saw orange, blue and yellow painted models on the runway. However, according to Moschino, the headwear trend will take a turn, leading to the 60’s. On his runway, Jeremy Scott previews how next year’s Moschino girl will be able to go full Jacky Kennedy, for a change. While opening the Milan show, Kaia Gerber did just that.

Richard Quinn’s debut

Richard Quinn may not immediately ring a bell. However, this UK-based designer won the H&M Designer Award 2017 and recently was granted the Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. Personally delivered by the Queen herself, during Richard’s ready-to-wear show hosted in London. If this still isn’t enough to have your full attention, maybe his custom motor helmets will do the work.

Versace is every woman

Donatella too is contributing to the future of headwear. We spotted tartan berets with pins and plenty of printed headscarves. Besides that, she gave us diverse silhouettes on her runway and we loved it. Donatella’s glamour transcends generations and cultures. By translating that into Versace’s new FW18 ready-to-wear collection, she caters to every woman.
