“Giambattista is really a master when it comes to beauty and glamour and sophistication, we’re really happy to be working with him,” said Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s Creative Advisor to Vogue. “We always want to have different takes on the collaborations. This is different compared to Moschino last year. It’s the first time we’re working with someone doing couture.”
Couture on a budget
Giambattista Valli is most known for his couture collections of big and impressive gowns, mostly made out of high quality tulle. They sell at prices that the normal people, like you and me, could never afford. In that sense, this collaboration is something good. You know, bringing couture to the people who usually can’t afford couture.
We’re very curious to see and feel the collection in real life, though. With prices ranging from $17.99 to $649, we’ll have to wait and see if – and how – they’re going to be able to keep the same high quality fabrics and details. They’re definitely setting the bar high and we’re not sure they are going to be able to deliver the quality we’re used to get from a Giambattista Valli collection. Tulle is is a fabric that has a high risk of looking cheap.
