With the support of Artist On Tour, an initiative of JC Bouckenborgh, JWLDMS virtually takes us to Antwerp venue TRIX to perform her first two singles “Growing Pains” and “Moon Child”.

Fresh off the release of her ‘307’ EP late last year, Antwerp soul diva JWLDMS (pronounced jewel dimes) is exclusively premiering her live session with us today. After months of not having any live performances due to the pandemic, the singer took matters into her own hands and geared up her live band and dancers for a pre-shot live performance. Now, she is enticing us all with the results.
With the support of Artist On Tour, an initiative of JC Bouckenborgh, JWLDMS virtually takes us to Antwerp venue TRIX to perform her first two singles “Growing Pains” and “Moon Child”.
The homey setting for the “Growing Pains” performance represents the place where JWLDMS (real name Julie) does most of her own self-reflection: her living room. In the “Moon Child” performance, the cycle of the moon plays the biggest role. This is reflected by the camera that constantly orbits around Julie and her dancers during the act. “I believe in the delicate balance between all celestial bodies,” JWLDMS tells us. But make no mistake, her powerful lyrics about self-acceptance and her touching voice prove that this singer has all her chakras aligned.

She may have only released her debut EP last year, but JWLDMS isn’t exactly new on the Belgian scene. Years ago, all four judges turned for the singer when she competed in the Flemish version of The Voice. Later on, she went to do backing vocals and features with Flemish R&B royalty Darrell Cole and TheColorGrey.
She has since also joined Female Takeover, a diverse Antwerp collective of women combining the talents of vocalists, dancers, and spoken word performers. “I love collaborating,” says Julie. “For this performance, for instance, I worked with Tamara Arruti as the director. I immediately clicked with her and trusted her vision. From my band to the dancers and the tech crew, it was an incredible and joyous experience working with all of these talented artists in their own right. It elevates what I do to new heights.” The proof is in the pudding, as they say.
