김나라 / Nara

This South Korean living in Paris always serves us with interesting combinations. She can just pull off anything, even those fluffy Miu Miu boots that would make most of us look like a basic bitch.

We cursed a lot when talking about Instagram in the past years. The algorithm unfortunately isn’t our best friend, but the medium remains a treasure trove when it comes to style. By style, we don’t mean the pink filter influencers turned beige aesthetics with a touch of chiaroscuro ’cause that’s (clearly) hot at the moment. We’re talking about the people with a genuine sense of fashion, a refreshing taste, a vision. Scroll down for our 13 favorite fashion front runners of 2021.

Instagram: @louispisano
Louis Pisano actually is the one who keeps us updated on the fashion insights through their Instagram stories and Twitter, but they also got style. We’ll never forget Louis’ red carpet moment at the Cannes Film Festival in a creation by Gregory Assad.

There must be something going strong in the northern hemisphere because many Scandi-girls are serving us some looks. One of our 2021 favorites is Fanny Ekstrand. Her style is an interesting combo of designer treasures and vintage finds, mixed with some more affordable items. Sounds familiar … yes, but she picks the items that not thirteen in a dozen insta-girls were wearing before her.

What else do we need to say about Marc Forne? Those who’ve been following ENFNTS TERRIBLES for a while now know that we’re part of his fan club. He’s an OG menswear front runner, and he keeps serving us looks. Marc, if you’re reading this, please send us an autograph. Thanks!

Another name on the list that doesn’t need an introduction. Besides being a modest style icon, Rawdah Mohamed also became a fashion editor for the brand-new Vogue Scandinavia this year. The magazine is lucky to have her!

Instagram: @brendahashtag
Brendahashtag is our online encyclopedia when it comes to knowledge about Maison Margiela, Rick Owens, and thrifting. She’s also the mind behind Disruptive Berlin, for which she curates second-hand and vintage items. Her entire wardrobe only consists of white and black, which is surprisingly refreshing.

Yet again, not a surprise. We’ve been a fan of Jihoon’s looks for quite a while now, and he didn’t disappoint us in 2021, on the contrary. The way he dresses is just visually pleasing, and what he wears is never dull.

Instagram: @ellenclaesson
As already mentioned in the intro: if there’s one thing we’re done with, it must be the countless beige aesthetic copycats that have been falling from the sky since 2020. We’ve seen it so much everywhere that we’re completely done with neutrals. There are a few exceptions, however, and one of them is the Swedish Ellen Claesson. She simply isn’t a copycat because she has been doing this for years. Her monotonous, oversized looks keep inspiring us.

When creating this list we realized that most of our style gurus have been our style gurus for quite a while. We first spotted Nathan during a press trip for Swatch in Tokyo in 2019, and he remained on our radar ever since. This guy just looks good in everything.

Instagram: @fengfan_x
Feng Fan’s account is like a new and improved high fashion magazine serving us one amazing designer look after another. We also checked her Weibo account and that’s even a step further. It might be an advantage that she’s from a rich family, but even then, we have to give her a lot of credit for her next-level sense of style.

Instagram: @alwaysjudging
Courtney Trop is one of the style icons that helped Instagram grow as a medium. She started blogging in 2013 and created a style that has been copied countlessly. She actually makes fashion fun with her colorful and innovative combinations. Courtney is also one of the OG bloggers who is still very relevant.

Instagram: @manurios
This guy is purely on this list because one of the co-founders has a little crush on him. If abbs were a style parameter, though, he would have loads of it.
(We promise to be more professional next year.)

Instagram: @herapradel
Last but not least, there’s Hera Pradel. She brings the term ‘Parisian Chic’ to a whole new level, which is great because the original version was getting a little outdated. Her eclectic combinations are simply refreshing and very her. Move over Jeanne Damas, we’d say.
