The 10 Best Songs Of The Week

Are you desperately looking for brand-new songs to update your Spotify playlist? Don’t worry, we’re (once again) here for you. Every week, we pick the best songs of the week that surprised, moved, or electrified us. With a great range of big stars to upcoming singers, there’s room for everybody and everything. Turn up the volume because we discovered some true gems this week.

1. Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa — Sweetest Pie

Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa belong to the biggest music acts among us and have one hit after the other. It was just a matter of time before these two powerhouses united for a banger, and “Sweetest Pie” is exactly what we expected of this collaboration. The track is a very playful mix between hip hop and pop, where both acts take their moment to shine brighter than a diamond. “Sweetest Pie” is the first single of Megan’s new album, and we’re super thrilled to discover even more tunes.

2. Sigrid — It Gets Dark

The Norwegian singer Sigrid is one of the most popular pop singers in the UK and sells out one arena after the other. Her quirky pop songs always put a smile on our face with their fun and uplifting productions, and her new single “It Gets Dark” is no exception. The song is a bit darker than what we are used to from Sigrid, but her optimism shines through the atmospheric melodies. Sigrid is a bright star in the sky.

3. Charlie Collins — Backseat Valentine

Charlie Collins is currently in the UK for a tour with Gang Of Youth, where she’ll introduce her debut album Undone (out on April 29th) and just released her brand-new single “Backseat Valentine”. The track showcases all her talents as an artist and is exactly what Gen Z currently likes: pop with rock influences. “Backseat Valentine” is super energetic and gives us the badass vibes we often miss in songs.

4. Morane — Egohead

The Antwerp-based Morane has a plan: breaking through with her music and inspiring other artists to pursue their dreams. Her new single “Egohead” is another big step in the right direction and indicates that she’s not far off from earning the crown of Belgian R&B princess. “Egohead” is dreamy, beautifully written, and gives us goosebumps every time we listen to it.

5. YUNGBLUD — The Funeral

YUNGBLUD is about to go on tour through Europe and is obviously excited to perform in front of his European fans after a long time. This week, he adds another banger to the setlist with the release of “The Funeral”, which is an anthem that needs to be sung by a whole arena. The song has a fun nostalgic vibe, and the chorus immediately gets us on our feet.

6. Todiefor, Poupie and Mahmood — Bel Air

Todiefor has already scored many hits in Belgium and wants to expand his success to the international market. Together with the French rising star Poupie and Italy’s superstar Mahmood, he has the right acts to help him achieve his goals. “Bel Air” is a refreshing track in Italian and French, which helps the song stand out. This is a potential summer hit, so we’re already adding it to our playlist!

7. Abbie Ozard — Pisces

Abbie Ozard belongs to the British acts to watch this year as she’ll be appearing at the most important festivals in her home country. Her new single “Pisces” immediately confirms what we already knew for a long time: she’s everything we love about bedroom pop. There’s a subtle shyness that goes hand in hand with a good portion of determination. Let’s hope her star really starts to rise this year because she deserves it.

8. Helen — Perfect Timing

The Romanian-born Helen has found a home in Belgium, where she works with the biggest pop acts in the scene. Besides songwriting for other artists, she’s also working on her solo project and releases with “Perfect Timing” another great song. The song doesn’t need more than some guitar chords and good vocals because “Perfect Timing” is just sublime on all kinds of levels.

9. Sunflower Bean — Roll The Dice

On May 6th, Sunflower Bean will release their third album Headful of Sugar, and it’s potentially their best era yet. The New York trio has a very unique approach when it comes to mixing different sounds, and we’re loving their new single “Roll The Dice”. The song is accompanied by a great music video that gives the song another layer and adds an extra mood to the track. It’s raw and polished at the same time, but most of all, it is an amazing track to drive home to at night.

10. Jeannel — ICMIB

Inspired by acts like Kelsey Lu and Kelela, Jeannel decided to take matters into her own hands and start her own project in Berlin. Her experimental R&B mesmerized us from the first second we heard “ICMIB”. Talking about the song, she says, “It is an expression of basic human desire for intimacy and love over sexual objectification and disconnection.” Jeannel is one to keep an eye on because her new EP Black Sesame will be out very soon.
