Currently, you’re on a festival tour and joining P!nk in European stadiums. What does your day look like?
It’s looking actually pretty good. We have some interviews, then I have my show, and I’m done for today. My band and I are really good friends, so we just hang out and watch movies. I also make them film a bunch of TikToks of me. I’m going on my own headlining tour in the fall in North America, so I’m trying really hard to market it, but I’m so bad at marketing things myself. I’m forcing them to make videos with me as they’re also going on tour with me. What’s fun about being out here is that I get to have new opportunities and gigs. That’s cool. Tomorrow I have an off day, but I might fill that off day with something. Today is a chill day, so I’m very excited.
You’re not only doing festivals, but you’re also a support act for Taylor Swift and P!nk. What was it like to learn that Taylor Swift and P!nk wanted you to tour with them?
With Taylor, I met her, and she asked me if I toured. She kind of asked if I open up for people, so it definitely put the thought in my head: “What if she wants me to open up for her? I don’t know what she wants from me, but she can have everything she wants!” It probably took about a month to get the offer, but my manager and I got the call when we were in a hotel room. We just flipped our fucking shit. I scared my bandmates a bit and told them that I needed to talk with them immediately. They were thinking that they were getting fired, but then I just said, “WE’RE OPENING FOR TAYLOR SWIFT!” I ordered two ice cream cakes and ate them on the floor with plastic forks.
With P!nk, her team was asking for submissions. My agent Marissa Smith, who has been my agent since I was fourteen, Facetimed me and my manager while playing songs of P!nk. She called me at eight in the morning and asked if I wanted to open for P!nk. Normally, I would be pissed if someone called me that early in the morning, but they can wake me up with that news any time. To play stadiums this year is absolutely ridiculous.
