You’ve put out an album in 2018 and one this year. How different was it to make these projects knowing there’s five years between them?
Jonathan: It was different because we wanted to make the music a bit more for festivals. We wanted it to be more danceable and feel like a party. We worked on JUNGLE for two years and tried to experiment a bit more to find a new sound.
Why did you base yourself for this project more on the live aspect? Is that partially because of the success of the live shows for DANCEHALL?
Guillaume: After we released our album DANCEHALL, we toured a lot and saw how people reacted to our music. That’s why when we’re in the studio, we’re already thinking more about the live part. That’s probably why some songs are more danceable.
Another important aspect of The Blaze, besides the music, are the music videos. How do you work on the visual concepts?
Jonathan: For every music video we made so far, we tried to work differently from the one we already did. For example, for “DREAMER” we really wanted to talk about the human crisis and refugees. It was something super important for us. For “MADLY”, the process was totally different because the song was already out. It’s a tricky track to think of a music video for. In the end, we tried to rework the music to make it fit with the imaginations we had in mind. The story that we wanted to tell is about a boy who’s going to his first rave and we wanted to bring an ode to festival culture. We had the idea and shot the music video in Belgium. We’re very happy with the video.
