5 Upcoming Artists to Keep an Eye on in 2024 (If You Have Good Taste)

We were treated to incredible music last year, and the new year also promises to provide us with the necessary soundtracks to our lives for the 366 days of 2024. While most may be looking forward to new albums from the likes of Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, and maybe even Rihanna (fingers crossed), today we’re looking a little further and putting 5 up-and-coming artists on your radar that will delight you with great music this year. Keep an eye on them and put them in your playlist in advance because soon you’ll no doubt be able to boast to your friends that you knew them before they hit the big stages.

Viji

Although we mostly enjoy electronic music, there are also some indie rock acts we like to put on to get into our feels. Austria’s Viji not only looks super cool, but her freshly released debut album So Vanilla is anything but! The 12 songs describe the inner pain the artist carries within her while also giving others hope that everything will get better someday. She is inspired by dreamy guitar lines, compelling vocals, and effective productions. Viji is worth checking out if you’re a fan of Clairo, Phoebe Bridgers or beabadoobee.

Reinel Bakole

Anyone who has been following us for a while may have already met Brussels-based singer Reinel Bakole, who we put on your radar back in 2021. In just under a month (Feb. 2), the multi-talented artist will release her debut album, Healing Exhaustion. The first two singles, “Swords” and “Silver Armour”, gave a first insight into the retrospective process she underwent while making the album. It became a search for herself and a journey through enchanting musical landscapes. Reinel Bakole’s star has been twinkling for some time and seems to be shining more than ever this year.

AMINA808

We have a big soft spot for cunty dance music à la Shygirl and COUCOU CHLOE, but up-and-coming talent in Belgium is also gearing up to win over the crown of Cuntland. AMINA908 released her first EP, This Is Not A Drill, last year, on which she immediately hit it big with her club-pop. She is also incredible live and, together with dancers, brings the shack dancing every time. With new music on the way, we’re hopeful for even more shows and, especially, bigger venues for AMINA808.

Sekou

Despite having only just turned 18, Sekou is among the new generation of British artists who represent an entire generation with their music. He was recently shortlisted in the renowned BBC Sound of 2024 selection alongside artists such as Peggy Gou, Tyla, and Ayra Starr, and his first show in his hometown of London also immediately sold out. In February, he will embark on his first tour of Europe as a support act for Reneé Rapp, so it is only a matter of time before he himself fills the big halls with his gigantic voice.

waterbaby

Next to the UK, Sweden is by far one of Europe’s biggest pop countries and continues to deliver interesting artists, like waterbaby. In 2023, she released her first EP, Foam, which quickly surpassed the three million-streams mark, showing with her innovative sound and unique R&B that she has a great career ahead of her. She will be playing at the European showcase festival Eurosonic in two weeks and will undoubtedly conquer festival stages next summer. To be continued.
