These Belgian Models Owned The Runways of Fashion Week

This season Fashion Week gave us a lot of shit to reflect on. Hedi Slimane’s debut at Celine, Christian Wijnants’ print play, Raf Simons’ graduation party for Calvin Klein, Nicolas Ghesquière’s wonderful SS19 runway collection and more. However, the Belgian models embodying the identity of these big fashion houses and walking the runways also caught our eye. We really don’t want to sound cocky or anything but Belgians do it better. That rule also counts on the runway.

Klaudia Mae

The first Belgian model in line has Polish roots and is no stranger to the runways.  You might have spotted her modeling for Christian Wijnants several times. Plus, if you’re a true Enfnts Terribles stan, you know her from our previous editorial ‘We’re The Kids Your Parents Warned You About‘ photographed by Robin Joris Dullers.

This season she was part of the Junya Watanabe tribe in Paris.

Klaudia is signed to Marilyn Agency in New York & Paris and Wild London.

Jelle De Beer

Jelle is a friend of the magazine. Throughout the years we followed his journey and we saw him develop his talent. This season he ran his first runway for a house we live for, Maison Margiela. While strolling the streets of Paris we randomly bumped into him on a metro and we had to congratulate him on his accomplishment. Putting him on this list is our way to thank him for making sure there was a piece of Belgium at Paris Fashion Week. Also, we’re sure you’re going to see more of this Belgian model so keep him on your radar.

Jelle is signed to The Coven Models in the Netherlands, Bananas Models in Paris and Why Not Models in Milan.

Maja Lex

Based in Belgium with Serbian roots is Maja and we have a funny history. The story behind our first encounter is quite awkward, but we couldn’t be more proud of this young girl.

The first time we spotted Maja was about a year ago at a fashion event in Brussels, where one of our editors was part of a panel talk. After the talk,  followed a fashion show where a few young Belgian designers showed their collections. While we were gushing and whispering about how beautiful she was, her parents were sitting next to us during the entire show. We’re sure our first encounter with Maja made her feel super awkward. However, that night in Brussels we all knew a star was born and one year later there she was, walking the runway of Comme des Garçons.

Maja is signed to Jill Model Management in Antwerp.

Liz Pinto

Born as Lizette Pinto e Melo, she grew up in Belgium. Her edgy sass and perseverance prove that she has what it takes to be the next big name. We witnessed that when she modeled for our editorial dubbed ‘Bring on the Night‘, photographed by Julia Dubois. What people didn’t know and what you couldn’t see was that she was so sick that day but the girl kept on going.

Last year she was doing all kinds of international campaigns and this season she walked her first runway at the Miu Miu show. If you’re reading this Liz, we are very proud of you.

Lizette is signed to GIRL in Paris.

Laura Van Londerzele

Another friend of the magazine is Laura, who we met on the set of the ‘Bring on the Night‘ editorial we did in collaboration with WEEKDAY. The ones who stan Enfnts Terribles to the core know that this party themed photo shoot was the bomb dot com and Laura did an outstanding job. However, as we continued to write, publish and share, Laura was doing the thing she does best, being a professional model. Recently she was seen walking the cutting-edge shows of New York-based label Discount Universe and the Rick Owens at Palais de Tokyo.

Laura is signed to Jill Models Agency in Antwerp, APM Models in New York, Louisa Models, PRM Agency in London, Independent Management in Milan and Option Management in Istanbul.

Luca Lemaire

When it comes to Belgian male models who take their craft very seriously, you have to add Luca to the mix. He has the face, the length, the attitude and the versatility. Luca can be the edgy dude for a Dust Mag editorial one day and the other day he’s on the cover of L’Officiel Paris. Models like him make us appreciate what we have in our own country. So if you’re reading this Luca, we’d like to work with you.

This season Luca worked for many high-end fashion houses from New York to Paris. We’re talking Tod’s, Raf Simons, Calvin Klein, just to name a few.

Luca is signed to The Identity in New York and Hakim Model Agency in Brussels.

Elien Swalens

This Belgian model is a regular to the fashion industry. Throughout the years Elien has made a solid name for herself. From couture to ready-to-wear, the girl worked for many high-end fashion houses. You might have seen her three seasons in a row walking the Celine show. Nonetheless, this time in Paris, she did several shows amongst whom Erdem, Oscar de la Renta, Christian Wijnants, Burberry, Rodarte and a few others.

Elien is signed at Fusion Models in NYC, Supreme Management in Paris, d’management group in Milan, The Squad in London, R1 Mgmt in Barcelona and BE MODEL MANAGEMENT in Brussels.

Symilone van Damme

No stranger to the runways of fashion week is Symilone, who starred in one of our previous editorials titled ‘It Ain’t My Fault‘ photographed by Elien Jansen. This season she walked the SS19 shows of Max Mara in Milan and Cividini in Paris. Watch out for this queen, she’s coming for you and you won’t even see it coming!

Symilone is signed to Milan Special Management in Milan and Two Management in Los Angeles.

Ilona Desmet

It seems like since this Belgian runway freshman signed with her mother agency GIRL, the doors to the catwalks opened for her. You really never know what an agent can do for your career until you’re in the moment. Well, Ilona definitely had her moment this season. In the past we saw her doing amazing editorials, however now the girl is putting in the work for big houses like Valentino, Givenchy and Dior. We’re eager to see where this exposure will bring her in the future. If you’re reading this Ilona, we’re keeping an eye on you.

Ilona is signed to GIRL in Paris.

Louise Robert

Louise might look like your average model, but she’s not. Consider her as the designer’s go-to couture girl. Because this fashion week only, she walked the runways of Giambattista Valli, Dior, Valentino, Sonia Rykiel and labels we’d want in our wardrobes, but can’t afford right now.

Some may realize it and some don’t but it’s important to have Belgian models at that level to keep pushing boundaries in this small country. We can only show our appreciation to these hard workers because this industry isn’t an easy one to function in.

Louise is signed to DNA Models in New York, Viva Paris, Viva London, Ulla Models in Antwerp & Amsterdam and also Viva Barcelona.

Ine Neefs

Ine Neefs is a model that is loved by the big and fabulous brands. You’ll often see her walk between models like Cara Delevingne and the dutch Luna Bijl. This season, she walked the runways of Balmain, Chanel and Isabel Marant in Paris and Ralph Lauren and Brock Collection in New York.

Ine is signed to Dominique Models in Belgium, DNA Models in New York, Oui Management in Paris, The Squad in London, R1 Mgmt in Barcelona, Special Management in Milano, Max Models in Rotterdam and Elite in Toronto.

Amandine Renard

The next model is one we would love the use as a model for our productions. We truly hope that day will come, because she would fit our magazine just perfectly. Amandine Renard walked in the Spring/Summer 2019 shows of Givenchy, Sonia Rykiel, MSGM, Erdem, Ports 1961, Molly Goddard and more. She’s a fashion week regular!

Amandine is signed to Be Model Management in Brussels, VNY Models in New York, Supreme Management in Paris, d’management group in Milan, Models 1 in London and R1 Mgmt in Barcelona.

Kaina Andrea

We spotted this Colombian beauty, who’s also Belgian based, walking the SS19 show of A.F. Vandevorst. Though that wasn’t her first gig at all! Belgians who read monthly magazines probably saw her on the cover of Weekend Knack Magazine back in April and De Morgen Magazine in May this year.

Kaina is signed to Jill Models in Antwerp, Heroes in New York, View in Barcelona and MD Management in Germany.

Noor Chaltin

This article is not a reason to create a competitive atmosphere amongst Belgian models but rather a way to praise them. Though we have to give Noor an extra standing ovation for doing the big work. This season the young girl, who was casted at a Justin Bieber concert, ran 14 shows. We’re speechless! From Rochas, Poiret, John Galliano, Burberry and more, she was there to make sure Belgium was well represented out there. Recently, the New York Times Style Magazine mentioned her on on their ‘models to watch this season‘-list.
