Beyoncé just dropped a new 85-minute visual album, based on ‘The Lion King: The Gift‘, which arrived last year as part of the rollout for the revival of the animated classic. The album ‘Black Is King’ is out on all streaming platforms, but the visual album is exclusively available on Disney+.
Starring Naomi Campbell, Adut Akech, and Aweng Ade-Chuol, Black is King is Beyoncé’s passion project. It features interpretive dance, song, and artistic vignettes, written, shot, and produced by Beyoncé herself. As usual, Bey is serving some of the best looks. She wears custom outfits from brands like Valentino, Balmain, Burberry, Mugler, and more.
For us non-Disney+ users, Queen Bey was generous enough to release “Already” on YouTube, too.
Essentially, the visual album is inspired by The Lion King’s tale, only told by the voices of Black creatives.
“It is my passion project that I have been filming, researching, and editing day and night for the past year,” Beyoncé said, adding that it was initially planned as a companion piece to The Gift but now serves “a greater purpose” amid the 2020 climate. “I’ve given it my all and now it’s yours.”
The ‘Black Is King’ visual album is available to stream now on Disney+ before airing in Sub-Saharan Africa on M-Net and Canal+ Afrique, and in the Middle East and North Africa on OSN.
