Burberry Goes Grunge for Capsule Collection with Vivienne Westwood
After announcing the collaboration back in July, Burberry and Vivienne Westwood have officially revealed the joint capsule collection. The campaign features Kate Moss amongst others and is giving us grunge vibes. It’s inspired by some of Westwood’s most iconic collections from the past.
Grunge is getting quite the attention lately. After Marc Jacobs’ relaunch of his iconic 1993 grunge collection for Perry Ellis, Burberry and Vivienne Westwood are next to launch a joint collection with strong grunge influences and we ain’t mad at it.
Burberry x Vivienne Westwood for Cool Earth
For the collaboration, Riccardo Tisci and Vivienne Westwood designed a limited-edition collection showcasing iconic pieces from Vivienne Westwood’s legendary archive, reimagined in Vintage Burberry check. It includes a double-breasted and hugger jacket, T-shirt with a handwritten message from the designer, a gorgeous beret and more. The collaboration is a collection in support of Cool Earth, a non-profit organization that works to halt deforestation and climate change. Westwood will also customize four exclusive items from the collection to be auctioned off to raise further support for the charity.
“Vivienne Westwood was one of the first designers who made me dream to become a designer myself and when I first started at Burberry, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to approach her to do something,” Tisci said in a statement announcing the joint line, which marks his first collaboration at the helm of the house. “She is a rebel, a punk and unrivaled in her unique representation of British style, which has inspired so many of us. I am so incredibly proud of what we will be creating together.”
Items are on sale right now on Burberry’s site and in selected stores.
