Discover the Debut Collection of Antwerp-Based Designer Valentine Tinchant

Belgian designer Valentine Tinchant just launched her debut collection, focusing on sustainability, colorful collaged graphics, and deconstructed garments. The Antwerp-based creative studied fashion design at Polimoda Fashion School in Florence and did an internship at the renowned Belgian brand Ann Demeulemeester. Now, she felt that it was time to start her own label, and we couldn’t agree more!

“I like to keep irony in my work; I like to make people laugh. It’s important we don’t always take ourselves too seriously.” — Valentine Tinchant

For her graduation collection at the Florence-based fashion school, Valentine Tinchant found inspiration in the waste of fashion and came up with the idea to work with upcycling. Using her own trash, such as cigarette packs, cookie packaging, and ripped-up magazines, Valentine Tinchant created ten looks for her graduation collection. With collages of metal chains, picked flowers, her own nudes, and pictures of babies from a book from the ‘70s, Valentine Tinchant describes her clothing line as “extra” but still manages to create wearable and comfy garments.

Valentine Tinchant the Brand

After Valentine Tinchant graduated with a degree in Fashion Design from the Polimoda Fashion School in Florence, she returned to Antwerp, where she interned for six months for at Ann Demeulemeester. When her internship ended, she found herself looking for work, but due to the pandemic, it was hard. So, after making some leggings, tops, and hoodies for fun, Tinchant took that negative situation and turned it into a positive by starting her own namesake brand, something she’s always dreamt of.

Valentine Tinchant will sell ready-to-wear and high-end garments, with the latter being available through a made-to-order system. The more high-end collection will include custom-made chain bags, necklaces, and a chain bra, but more pieces will be added to the selection later on. The ready-to-wear line, including (deconstructed) hoodies, T-shirts, leggings and tops, will be released through different drops. The first drop is available right now!

Both the ready-to-wear and high-end clothing lines are exclusively available through the designer’s own webshop.
