Exclusive: Rising Pop Star Ash Olsen Gives Us a Behind the Scenes Look At Her Celebrated Show at Eurosonic

Every year, the big stars of tomorrow are presented at the renowned showcase festival Eurosonic where they introduce themselves to the music world. A few weeks back, Norwegian talent Ash Olsen also got to prove herself, and for the occasion, she brought a disposable camera to capture her adventure. Together with us, the “CRAZY BITCH!” singer opens her diary and details the fun days she spent in Groningen, the Netherlands. One thing is certain; the big stages beckon this exciting pop star.

It was lit to play a festival in the Netherlands! It was a surreal experience to see so many people dancing to my music. My mom came with us. Having my mom there as my moral support made it even more special. She doesn’t normally go with us, but it was fun bringing her along on a gig like this in the Netherlands. She always keeps me grounded, so it gives me a lot of peace before a gig to have her around me, and she always reminds me to eat ’cause I sometimes forget that part when we travel. I’m grateful to have shared this experience with her.

We, on the way. Chillin’ with moms. This was actually in the taxi that picked us up from the hotel to drive us to the venue, I think. I like those rides from the hotel to the venue; it’s a good time to start getting in the zone. It all becomes more real once the equipment is loaded in, and you know you’re finally going on stage. I get gassed as hell on the way there thinkin’ about steppin’ on the stage and seeing everybody.

Backstage, after the sound check. Backstage before a show can be nerve-wracking, but I’ve found a way to calm myself down—by watching cute dog videos. So here I was on IG looking at cute animals doing cute shit. That’s one thing that always calms me down: dogs and animals, in general. My whole explore page is filled with animal clips. (laughs)

About to go on stage in this one. Here you can see I just changed into my stage outfit, and I’m feeling a mix of nerves and excitement. It’s interesting standing backstage, ready, and just hearing how the venue fills up with people. I remind myself of all the hard work and preparation that has led me to this moment. I feel grateful for the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience and share my music. It gives me a lot of energy. Also vibing with Koko’s (my DJ) set helps me a lot. He starts my shows with a couple of bangers and hearing that playing from the stage gets me in the right mood.

Last night was fire, yo! The crowd was lit, the energy was insane, and the sound was on point. All that hard work and grindin’ paid off big time. Here it was breakfast time, the day after the gig. As you can see, I was pretty drained. We sat up until 4:30 am after the concert and had to wake up early to head to the airport to go home. We catched a cheese sandwich at Starbucks at the train station. It was too dry, to be honest, I´ll give it a 4/10. I might just be too biased by my own cheese sandwich that I make at home ’cause that shit is lit! Shout out to everyone who came out and supported!

Eat up! The whole team was pretty tired at this point. There weren’t enough chairs available, so my mom and Alf (my technician), who you see in the picture, sat on our equipment hard cases. Gotta make the best of the situation on tour. While the sandwich was disappointing, the orange juice was fire.
We’ve been vlogging every step of the way, capturing our lit moments and grinding hard for the music, but I hate when my manager or creative director starts vlogging in the morning. Nobody needs that … The memories we’ve made on this trip are priceless, tho.

At the airport on our way back home, tired AF. I’m not a big fan of airports: shit takes too long, and there’s way too much noise. I like to just cuddle up in a chair with my AirPods in and chill on my own. Soak in all the expressions from the gig. And I always carry my black, little suitcase with me on gigs. There are some special items I need to have with me. See if you can guess what it might be.
