West-London based singer Unflirt might be one of our favourite recent discoveries and already made it into our list with the 10 best releases of last week. Her refreshing indie-pop tune “Stains” centers self-awareness, personal growth and breaking free from negative thoughts patterns, which is also reflected in the accompanying music video. The DIY, collage/scrapbook inspired visuals capture the energy of the song and its message perfectly. To celebrate this new release, Unflirt took us behind the scenes during the shoot of the music video and gives us some more insights on the creation process.
After a few trains out of London, we arrived in the countryside where we would spend the night shooting the video. Got blessed with some sun this day so this is us enjoying it before we shot the first scene
On the way to the first location, shoutout Avalon who got us where we needed to be!
First look of the day, got Jwa Sentain on the hair and Ella Willis Alvarez on the styling !
Out of breathe after running through the forest about 4 times. I remember it was so hot I kept having to take off this leather jacket after each take . Who needs cardio when you can just make a music video huh !
First look done ! Time to head back to change and have some lunch
One of my favourite pictures from the shoot. Noah took this whilst we shot the first running sequence. Theres a lot of running in the video haha but we did this intentionally. (The idea was that I was just running from myself hahahah)
We ended up not using these shots but it was really super super pretty
Checking out the shot, the light was so beautiful in the forest ! I love a forest lol
Next location, Noah took this from the top of a tree !
The view from the little yurt we stayed in, I loved being in the nature so much and I wish we could’ve stayed longer! Ella killed it again with the styling also. This was the second look we shot but the first scene of the video. I love how the video starts with me dressed in white then ends with me in all black.
Shooting some more stuff as we head back for dinner, then time to change one last time
We shot the second running sequence at this beautiful crazy quarry ! The entrance was blocked off but we got in through an entrance through a bush and it was worth it ! Jwa was also not playing around with the hair, soooo cute I’m obsessed.
This last look might be my favourite. Jwa slicked my hair back and Ella put together this insane look for the bike scene. The craziest scene to shoot, thank you Ollie and Dan Beamish for helping us out and for that sick experience
After almost 12 hours of shooting, we finally wrapped! This was taken after we shot the fire scene, which was so surreal. After we just sat around the fire which was sweet. I guess the video ends here as I finally stop running, and come to the realisation in the song that I was the cause of my problems and just was running from myself! I think going crazy and throwing logs into a huge fire is quite fitting imagery for that haha
