Let’s Get Groovy with Redleg’s Exciting Debut Album ‘Niño’

Years ago, it was almost impossible to release your music without a label. Anno 2019, a huge amount of young artist are able to publish their own songs without being signed, what leads to a lot of new talented artists and a much fresher music scene. The young Belgian artist and producer Redleg is a good example of this phenomenon. His debut single “What Can I” assembled over 200.000 streams without any promo or radio airplay and proved that we can expect good music from the Brussels-based act.

Producing and writing all of his music in his home studio, Benjamin Gelder is ready to show the world that he is a fresh and promising artist with a good vision that deserves to be heard. His debut album Niño was released last Sunday and we can’t stop listening to the new hip hop sensation.

“What can I rap about? What can I sing about? What can I do to make my dreams come true?”, that’s what Redleg is asking himself in his debut song “What Can I”, which made him a Spotify sensation. Months later, he might’ve found the answer with his first full length project Niño, a very exciting debut that keeps us on our feet.

Niño – An ode to being young

Niño is a remarkable debut and is a laid back ode to be young. While many rappers try to make their next ‘lit’ song, Redleg keeps it real and shines with a smooth production that doesn’t miss a beat. Looking for a reference that matches his music the best, the Belgian duo Blackwave is never far away. Sharing the same kind of vibe, Redleg embraces the slightly funky vibe that keeps you flying. Highlights of the album are “Peter Pan”, “Teddy Bear” and “Earl Grey”, but “Grooving” clearly stands out the most with his trumpets and smooth vocals. Benjamin Gelder tries his luck without the help of a label and knows how to please music lovers. ‘

We are excited to see what the future brings for this young, upcoming artist! This Friday, the music video of “Peter Pan” is set to drop. It’s clear, Redleg has exciting times in front of him!
