Hedi Slimane Opens First Boutique with New Celine Store Concept in New York

Designer Hedi Slimane unveiled the new Celine store concept at its new flagship store on Madison Avenue. The New York flagship store is the first in a series of new boutiques around the world, which is part of a major worldwide retail push.

“We have openings planned all over the world, including in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, London, Milan, Shanghai, Beijing and Tokyo.” explains Celine’s CEO, Severine Merle. “Flagships and larger boutiques will offer men’s and women’s together but some stores will also present just men’s or women’s. The first boutique will be on Madison Avenue. The Paris network will expand in March, notably with the first men’s wear flagship on the Rue François 1er, a historically Celine location.”

The interior

The scheme, designed by Hedi Slimane, includes the finest natural materials, crafting a balanced and expensive sculptural interior. All of the materials are complemented with the reclaimed oak, concrete, polished stainless steel, brass and gold mirror together in a refined twenty-first century brutalist context. Specially designed furniture by Slimane plays a crucial role in the design.
