Kim Petras Scalps You With Her New Halloween Album

A little more than three months after the release of her debut album, German pop-starlet Kim Petras released a brand-new album. Her first long player ‘Clarity received incredible reviews, with The New York Times giving it a ten out of ten. Following this success, the now Los Angeles-based singer dropped a Halloween-themed album to celebrate the start of the Halloween season.

Exactly one year ago, Petras released her third EP Turn Off The Light, Vol. 1 where she showed her love of Halloween on eight pop bops. Today, she added nine songs to the collection and bundled them on her second studio album Turn Off The Light. In 48 minutes, Kim proves to know what her sound is and combines it with extremely fun productions and lyrics.

Blood and Sex

The 31st of October is probably one of our favorite days of the year, because is there anything more fun than dressing up and completely freaking out? The answer is no and with Turn Off The Light, we have the perfect soundtrack to get totally ready. In the seventeen-songs strong project, we get a lot of blood and sex. Album opener “Purgatory” transitions perfectly into “There Will Be Blood”. And yes, there will be blood because the start of the album already scalps you. Wig? Gone!

Gaga, Britney and Madonna

Kim Petras is definitely influenced by pop icons and doesn’t hide that. In “Wrong Turn”, we hear a little bit of Madonna and Britney Spears, while “Demons” has a very Lady Gaga artpop sound. By combining all the best elements of all these pop culture icons, this album is made to slap hard.

Kim’s song “Massacre” brings together the sexiness of BANKS and “Death By Sex” could be a song by our queen Charli XCX. But let’s stop comparing because Petras really knows how to stand out by adding her own freshness to every single song. Just look at “Close Your Eyes”, which is easily one of our favorite pop songs at the moment. The song creates a moment thanks to her convincing vocals that get you so hyped, that you keep using the ‘repeat’-button.

Thanks to Turn Off The Light, Halloween receives a totally new dimension. Forget all the scary zombies and insert a new, sexy witch, because Kim Petras is exactly serving that and even more. Her first Halloween album is exactly what we expected it to be. Good productions, amazing vocals and seventeen solid bops that get you ready for the scariest night of the year. Let’s count the days and see what Kim’s costume will be for Halloween this year…
