Backstage with Antwerp Fashion Master: Linus Leonardsson

The city of Antwerp has one of the best fashion academies in the world, according to Business of Fashion. It’s the city where Dries Van Noten, Martin Margiela, Ann Demeulemeester and Rushemy Botter graduated. Our photographer Robin Joris Dullers followed five fashion masters backstage at the annual show of the Antwerp Fashion Department. Amongst them, Linus Leonardsson, a master graduate of the Antwerp Royal Academy of Fine Arts. He presented his final collection called ‘See You in the Fog’. Have a closer look.

Linus Leonardsson – See You in the Fog

Like we are used from the Swedish designer, Linus Leonardsson created another astonishing men’s and women’s collection. In his previous collections, he always worked with other people’s topics, interpreting movies, books, etc. But this year he decided to take a different approach and took his inspiration closer to home, namely forest raves. Because the party scene in Stockholm, where his roots lie, is kind of restricted because of the many laws against alcohol, so the so-called “forest raves” arose.  Linus Leonardsson has always found these forest raves very beautiful; “You’re surrounded by nature and artificiality at the same time, which is the strongest contrast in my collection”. Another contrast you can find in his collection is the crafty touch. He wanted to add domesticity and has been crocheting a lot. He even collaborated with Komono for a limited collection of sunglasses (which are already sold-out).

We said it before and we will say it again, his work is a treat for the eyes and he definitely stays one of our favorites.
