Meet Mimi Webb, the sensational singer captivating hearts and conquering the music world with her powerful voice and emotive lyrics. Hailing from England, Mimi’s rise to stardom has been nothing short of meteoric, earning her a devoted fanbase and critical acclaim. With her enchanting performances, she has graced some of the biggest stages, including the renowned Rock Werchter festival some weeks ago, where her electrifying presence left audiences in awe and craving for more. As Mimi Webb continues to leave an indelible mark on the music scene, her talent and charisma promise an exciting and enduring journey ahead. During our interview at Rock Werchter, we talked about the importance of ‘Amelia‘, her dreams, and her sophomore album.

How has the festival season been so far?

It’s been amazing so far. We’re nearly halfway through, but I’m very excited that there are many exciting festivals coming up.

You’ve recently toured Europe to present your debut album, Amelia. How was it for you to perform all these super personal songs in front of thousands of people?

Amazing! It was so nice to share the songs live now and to meet new people. It’s so cool to share the connection through music and see how people react to the songs we’ve been long working on.

Is there one specific song you like to perform the most?

It’s always going to be one of the upbeat songs like “Freezing” and “Red Flags” since they keep the energy in the crowd going.

Talking about red flags: is there a red flag you have about festivals?

It’s the toilets … sometimes you get bad toilets, and I just can’t. I’ve had some experiences with toilet areas that were a bit of a nightmare, but we got on with it.

Do you actually still have time to check out other acts at festivals, or is the schedule too busy?

No, unfortunately. I usually arrive, play the show, and need to leave again, which is really hard. That’s one of the down parts because I can’t see the people I want to see.

Since you’ve toured the album now, did your perspective on Amelia change throughout the past months?

I love the album so much. I’m so grateful looking back, and I’m already working on my second album. On my debut, I wanted people to really get me and understand the different sides of me. Now, I’m ready to go on to the next album and go even bigger.

Was there one specific thing you wanted to showcase on your debut album?

I wanted to make some nice upbeat pop songs because I wanted to show that I like to deliver that as well as emotional songs. Amelia was about keeping that mixture balanced.

Are you approaching the next album differently since you know how you put together Amelia?

It’s pretty much the same. I don’t like to overthink it too much, but there’s definitely more maturity and growth. I also know what works with my fans and what doesn’t.

Is there a sound you want to explore more in the future?

Sonically it’s going to be a bit different. We’re still experimenting, but there’s definitely going to be a sonic transition where it feels a bit bigger and better. Better than ever.

You had your breakthrough during a time when we were all locked up inside. How was it for you to head on your first tour and see the faces in real life?

I think it’s when you see a person in real life, you see the people that actually support you and are behind the numbers. It’s a completely different feeling and makes you realize what’s happening.

What’s the most unforgettable memory you made so far?

It’s mad because there are times when I think: “How is this real?” because it’s sometimes so crazy to see where my music took me already.

What do your plans after the festival tour look like?

Now, it’s all about festivals and writing new music. There’s also an exciting drop of fresh music coming.

If we could manifest something right now, what would you like to achieve in the next couple of years?

I would love to do the James Bond theme song. I grew up with my family loving the movies, and it’s the specific sound or class that I love about the James Bond theme song. I also want a number-one album. Those are my goals.

Mimi Webb’s debut album ‘Amelia’ is out everywhere.
