Mr Porter Launches Its New Japan Edit with 15 Japanese Designers

The Japan Edit – MR PORTER invites fifteen Japan-based brands to showcase a menswear capsule collection inspired by Japanese style and culture.

The Japan Edit

MR PORTER shortlisted the most influential menswear brands hailing from Japan for a project called The Japan Edit. It will feature 122 pieces of clothing, footwear and accessories, crafted by fifteen different designers and brands.

The Japan Edit is the third focus edit by MR PORTER, following the successes of the Viva La France and Made in California edits. The Japan Edit will give the center (global) stage to smaller brands that currently enjoy a loyal but limited following.



A creative campaign has been unveiled for the collection, inspired by four focus scenes of Japanese culture – nightlife in Tokyo, architecture in Tokyo, the traditional Japanese bar and the modern tearoom. The dreamy, pastel-colored landscapes have been designed by Tishk Barzanji. Larger than life, surreal settings, just like Tokyo itself.

The Shortlist

Expect more color and a youthful vibe, even though the collection promises something for everyone. Blue Blue Japan’s printed bandana, Auralee’s tie-dye tees and a distressed denim jacket by NEIGHBORHOOD are all landing in time for your summer wardrobe.


The Japan Edit features designs from AMBUSH, BEAMS Plus, NEIGHBORHOOD, Human Made, TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloist., Needles, Hender Scheme, Blue Blue Japan, Kapital, Wacko Maria, Auralee, Mizuno, Remi Relief, Blackmeans and Nepenthes Tokyo.

Mark your calendars for May 6th. The collection will be available online with prices ranging from $20 to $5000.
