LOUVRE COUTURE: ART AND FASHION STATEMENT PIECE – Louvre, Paris

For the first time in its history, the Louvre is dedicating an entire exhibition to fashion. From January 24 to July 21, 2025, the museum opens its doors to an extraordinary fusion of haute couture and historical masterpieces. Louvre Couture invites visitors to explore the relationship between iconic designs from legendary fashion houses like Balenciaga, Chanel, Yohji Yamamoto, and Iris van Herpen, and the treasures of the museum’s Department of Decorative Arts. The exhibition takes guests on a journey through different eras, highlighting how fashion has drawn inspiration from art for centuries.

The showcase is not a traditional exhibition, but an immersive, non-linear experience where art objects and fashion pieces blend together, creating a new narrative of artistic and sartorial creativity. Scenographer Nathalie Crinière, known for her work at Dior Gallery and exhibitions for Elsa Schiaparelli and Iris van Herpen, has curated a captivating visual journey where each piece finds its light.

Tickets are available now through the Louvre website. The exhibition runs from January 24 to July 21, 2025, at the Louvre in Paris.

American Photography – Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam

Inspired by Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us, the exhibition “reclaims the Black gaze”, celebrating resilience and dignity in the face of historical misrepresentation. MODE & INTERIEUR. A GENDERED AFFAIR – MoMu, Antwerp

This exhibition at MoMu examines the relationship between fashion and interior design through a gender perspective. In the 19th century, women were seen as the ‘beautifiers’ of both their bodies and their homes, blending into their surroundings through layered fabrics, textiles, and decoration.

Later, male designers like Henry van de Velde sought harmony between clothing, furniture, and architecture, while modernists like Adolf Loos and Lilly Reich rejected ornamentation in favor of function. The exhibition connects these histories with contemporary creations by Maison Martin Margiela, Ann Demeulemeester, Raf Simons, and Hussein Chalayan.

The exhibition runs from March 22 to August 17, 2025, at KMSKA in Antwerp. Tickets available via the MoMu website.

Spanning seven decades of his career, the exhibition presents over 400 works, from early paintings to recent iPad creations, offering an intimate look at one of the most influential artists of the 20th and 21st centuries. Hockney himself has curated the experience, guiding visitors through key themes of his practice, from the sunlit swimming pools of California to the changing seasons of Yorkshire and Normandy. With immersive video installations, large-scale landscapes, and iconic portraits, this exhibition is a rare opportunity to step into Hockney’s ever-evolving artistic world.

The exhibition will be held from 9 April to 31 August 2025. Tickets are available through the Fondation Louis Vuitton website.

His black-and-white works are highly detailed, drawing attention to key moments in history, politics, and daily life. Using chiaroscuro and precise technique, he slows the rapid flow of images in modern society, prompting reflection and empathy.
