The design team managed to blend together style and practicality in an innovative way. It’s like they’ve brought together the best of modern living and sneaker tech to create something totally new.
As Charlotte Lee, New Balance’s senior footwear designer, explains very well, “The WRPD Runner is a new concept driven by the unique space where style and performance meet. The upper has a refined focus on simplicity and quality whilst the sole is a warped expression of our pinnacle running technology, FuelCell. The fluid lines of the foam are blended with the abstract nature of futuristic design, evoking a strong sense of movement.”
Key Features
The upper pays homage to the iconic aesthetics of New Balance running, reimagining the oval shape in a futuristic context. The midsole introduces a plush and sculpted incorporation of FuelCell technology, incorporating medial stability post, forefoot cushioning, and an extravagantly contoured crash pad design in the heel. The outsole design further amplifies the shoe’s uniqueness, as it elegantly undercuts and envelops the midsole, introducing an unconventional wavy tread pattern for enhanced traction.
As New Balance has been dropping one success story after another we can already predict the WRPD Runner will become one of the most-wanted sneakers.
