London-born designer Samuel Ross, founder and creative director of A-Cold-Wall*, used his ability to change an object over time to design this outwear collection. He also adds to the mix modernized running shoes, which are basically the real show stoppers here. Meet the reworked Nike Zoom Vomero +5 sneakers.
Creating innovative outerwear isn’t new business to Samuel Ross but for this capsule, he worked with more inventive fabrics. He set the bar higher by including a technical Japanese nylon that softens with warmth and heat. On top of that, he removed the PU coating from the Zoom Vomero +5 sneakers in order to accelerate the aging process.
“I am interested in how a garment ages and in taking the user on that journey. That is something I believe should be encouraged. It’s much more human. It’s much more dynamic as well,” Samuel said. Not only is this line a good example of how to use innovative materials and raw energy for fashion. Though it’s also a step further to expanding the life cycle of a product.
