Skepta tried to connect the culture of London and Morocco through a sneaker in his previous collaboration with Nike. This time he’s connecting the two style capitals of Europe, London and Paris. Next to both countries having the same colored flags, both being metropolises and a well-known history in fashion design, Paris is also known as one of the first international cities Skepta broke out.
Connecting his fandom
The two cities are connected by one train ride, although there is an ocean in between. And now they’re even connected by a shoe, a sneaker, a classic. For this model, Skepta put the sole of an Air Max 97 underneath an Air Max BW. He chose the BW, better known as the Big Window, as a reference to the Parisian and British hip-hop culture in the nineties. The shoe was originally a United States only. But they quickly became a top seller in Europe better known as the Air Max Classic. For Skepta it was clear he wanted to work with the most air possible: “When I was younger, Air Max was the shoe to flex in. The bigger your Air bubble, the cooler.”
