The brand was founded by Jojo Mukadi, who also acts as the creative director and one of the designers. Lou completes the two-person team as a designer and also takes on the role of studio manager.

The brand’s values and principles remain steadfast. As the brand has grown, its bonds with like-minded individuals and creatives in their industry have strengthened. This has been a highlight for Mukadi as it has allowed them to expand their circle and bring new perspectives into their world. Additionally, they have become increasingly confident in their designs that are constantly pushing the boundaries and striving to create pieces that embody Mukadi’s values with each passing year.

From idea to must-have

Their process draws on a variety of sources, including their own life experiences and the enriching conversations they hold with diverse communities. The production begins with an abstract shape, which is then molded and shaped by various inspirations until reaching a final form. At times, they may revisit and rework their designs several times before arriving at a final product, while other times, they may go directly from a sketch to a sample. Regardless of the method, their goal remains to create unique and bold pieces.

Ambitions

Since day one, Mukadi’s goal has been to create meaningful clothing that resonates with the wearer and provides a feeling of confidence and empowerment. The designers maintain this focus by never taking themselves too seriously and always putting their love and hard work into each collection. Speaking of their collections, Mukadi is excited to announce that they will be branching out into menswear this year. But that’s a conversation for another time. For now, their main focus is to continue enjoying the creative process.
