PHOTOS: A Look Into Our Dinner at The Standard Hotel in Brussels

On the 29th floor of The Standard Hotel in Brussels, high above the buzzing city, a select group of guests gathered for an unforgettable evening in the clouds. The occasion? A golden-hour dinner co-hosted by us, Enfnts Terribles, blending culinary craft, carefully curated music, and artful interior design.

As the evening began, guests were welcomed onto the open-air terrace, where the first clinks of glasses sounded. Small bites – or Pequeños Bocados – were passed around to ease into the night: plump Gordal olives, toasted almonds with just the right touch of salt, and two kinds of croquetas, one with creamy Manchego and spinach, the other with rich Pata Negra ham. Paired with a chilled glass of Katkoot Rosé Riserva, it was the perfect moment to soak up the last rays of sun before moving indoors, where a panoramic view stretched from the rooftops of Brussels all the way to the iconic Atomium.

The tables were elegantly tucked into soft, rounded corners throughout the space, and gently separated by sheer, dusty pink curtains. The fabric created intimate cocoons without dividing the room, allowing for soft murmurs and silhouettes to flicker through the folds.

Culinary craftsmanship

The artwork of the menu was designed by Benny Van den Meulengracht-Vrancx, the menu itself offered three distinct main courses: a perfectly cooked pressa Ibérico, a delicate red mullet served with creamy polenta, and a fideuà con socarrat for the plant-based crowd, a Catalan noodle dish with its signature crispy bottom. Sides like arroz negro and patatas bravas were shared across the table, making the experience feel communal, yet elevated.

Each course came paired with a hand-picked wine. The evening crescendoed with two desserts that lived up to their names. Walk with me in Catalan played on the beloved crema catalana with hints of lemon, while The little black dress of chocolate delivered pure elegance with a touch of drama, much like the guests who gathered to enjoy it.
