Premiere: Discover Leyma’s Music Video for ‘Sterling’s Finest’

London is the habitat for many talented rappers and singers just like the upcoming artist Leyma. The East Londoner attracted attention with his first EP ‘LONGDAYS’, introducing us further into his artistic vision. His bedroom-produced blend of indie, R&B, and hip hop is the most relaxing music you’ll hear today. We’re happy to exclusively share his new single, including a very cool video, to you.

“sterling’s finest”, his first release of 2020, is immediately one of his best to date and takes the listener on an unpredictable trip. The track has been split into two halves. Explaining the meaning of the track he says, “The first details the irony of the title, and how that mirrors his attitude towards life in general. This sentiment is carried on through the conflict of the verse and the chaos which follows. The second half resolves the argument and has the protagonist question himself once more, with the song finishing with the resolution to go home.”

Three Leymas

The music video is a visual introduction to three different sides of Leyma, being the wise, the lover, and the worst. Yet again, he collaborated with his friends Kai Palfreman (co-director) and Aaron Qureshi (camera and editor), who were able to capture his feelings in the visuals of the song. The whole video is built around the contrast between his vocals and image of the character, building towards a climax where anarchy ensues and where the three Leymas finally leave for a different direction. A very cool, well-made video that proves that Leyma has a great future ahead as a musical poet and storyteller. Definitely worth to keep an eye on.
