Premiere: ‘Eight’ Is Cyra Gwynth’s Next Step as an Artist

Cyra Gwynth is only 24 years old, but the singer with Dutch and Filipino roots has a dream that she’s pursuing. The Belgian R&B singer/songwriter has been working hard on her new music and is ready to share it with the world. After being streamed over a million times on her first releases, Cyra is ready to reach a bigger audience with her new single.

‘Eight’ is about her struggle to gain control over her thoughts that can drive her into an overwhelming darkness. It’s about the infinite struggle between strength, self-confidence and emotional stability. The title ‘eight’ is a symbol for eternity and underlines this permanent struggle.

Cyra really proves her strength as a versatile artist with this brand-new single. It’s a catchy mix of R&B, trap soul and pop music. Kehlani, Aaliyah and H.E.R. were big inspirations during the making of this song and you can hear that.

The music video

The music video’s mood is a visual representation of the song; mellow and moody in a nocturnal and intimate setting. Julia Dubois Rosca did an amazing job as a visual manager, Khaël Touag as a director and Kamiel Doens as the cinematographer. The two-minute clip really captures the essence of the meaning of ‘eight’. It’s a flow of emotions and it really absorbs your attention.
