PREMIERE: GET INTO BIBI SECK’S BOX!

Bibi Seck, Belgium’s celebrated DJ queen, known for her vibrant mix of house, disco, techno and all things funky, now reveals an exciting new facet of her artistry: her voice! With the release of her debut single and accompanying music video “Box,” Seck confidently steps from behind the decks to deliver an elegant, soulful disco track brimming with an irresistible groove.

“Box” opens with a sensually spoken confession. “Hey baby, you really did break my heart, you know,” setting the tone for a song that balances the bittersweet aftermath of heartbreak with the spirit of self-empowerment. Anchored by a playful beat, 80s-inspired synths, and a lovable, bouncy bassline, the song pays homage to the legendary disco era while adding a modern touch of je ne sais quoi.

Not only is “Box” an obvious dancefloor anthem, it also contains a message of resilience, wrapped in silky falsettos and intentionally naive lyrics. It’s rare to find this vulnerable yet uplifting originality in today’s musical landscape, where algorithm-friendly pop often dominates. With this debut release, Bibi Seck makes it unequivocally clear that she’s more than just a DJ, albeit one who plays gigs like Tomorrowland Brasil and Berghain’s Panorama Bar in Berlin.

The video

The music video, directed by Sherwood Nkwenti, features Bibi in eye-catching catsuits, a big hat, and of course, sees her dancing through it all. At one point, joined by friends and family, this Antwerp diva clearly also knows how to deliver a look. Check out the BTS polaroids from the music video set.

“Box” is for fans of Jessie Ware’s sophisticated disco and Rochelle Jordan’s joyful funkiness. It’s a fresh take that builds on a rich legacy, while pushing it into the here and now. Bibi Seck’s first step into the spotlight as a singer/performer is a thrilling invitation to follow her evolving journey. With “Box,” Bibi Seck proves you can never keep a groovy girl down for too long. Boys be damned! The dancefloor is hers, with or without the headphones!

“Box” is out now on all platforms.
