Primavera Sound 2024: Unveiling our Must-See Acts

Awe’re counting down the days for Primavera Sound 2024, the excitement in Barcelona is palpable, fueled by the killer lineup and retro-inspired graphics. Among the hundreds of acts, we’ve sifted through the musical treasure trove and curated a list of must-sees.

Dancefloor Heat: Charli XCX, A.G. Cook, and Troye Sivan

First up, hyperpop royalties Charli XCX and A.G. Cook are both on the lineup and set to ignite the stage. Charli’s upcoming album, brat, promises fresh new bops and an electrifying performance, while A.G. Cook’s eclectic sounds from Britpop are primed for success. Are we going to see a collab on the Primavera stage? If Charli singing, “you gonna jump if A.G. made it” in “360” is any indication, we’ll be bouncing right along.

In the sea of Primavera pop stars, we are also excited to see Troye Sivan, whose versatile tunes promise a journey from soulful melodies to sweaty club beats. With anthems like “Rush” he’s set to keep the party going, and we are all for a good time (disclaimer: this is not an endorsement for the usage of poppers at the festival).

Cinematic Melancholy with Lana Del Rey and Ethel Cain

For those who want to sway, sigh, and seize the moment, Lana Del Rey and Ethel Cain will be there to hold your hand. Lana, the queen of cinematic melancholy, has been releasing albums faster than we can say Born to Die, and we’re ready to serenade the Barcelona nights away. Meanwhile, Ethel Cain’s dreamy tunes blur the lines between dream pop, and gothic rock, promising a musical journey as enchanting as it is unpredictable.

Arca: The Powerhouse Solo Act

When it comes to one-woman shows with magnetic presence, we expect nothing less than artists such as Arca. Her experimental reggaeton is ready to KiCk the stage and the whole city, echoing the explosive energy of her albums. Known for pushing boundaries with her avant-garde style, Arca promises an experience brimming with synthesizers, deep vocals, and high heels, of course.

Vampire Weekend’s Fusion of Punk, Jazz, and Indie Rock

For indie rock fans, the festival offers a variety of acts. Among them, we are looking forward to hearing Vampire Weekend. Their new album, Only God Was Above Us, seamlessly fuses diverse musical influences and genres like punk and jazz with the beloved Vampire Weekend’s signature sound. The band taught us what it was like to be indie in the ’00s, and we’re ready to experience it again this summer.

So, dear festival lovers: prepare yourselves for a weekend of unforgettable moments. Primavera Sound 2024 is shaping up to be one for the history books.
