The collection: Default by bliss by Quinten Mestdagh
Quinten Mestdagh made a beautiful and promising women’s collection. He put a lot of research into materials and techniques for this collection. He even collaborated with Komono for a limited collection of sunglasses (which are already sold-out). His goal was to find a technique and an aesthetic that had nothing to do with each other but had a visual connection. One of the materials used therefore were mother-of-pearl buttons, that he got from the Pearly Kings and Queens of London. With these buttons, he really wanted to find both the contrast as the similarity between a technique and an aesthetic. So, he could merge them to get a new outcome. He also used that technique for his scarves. Quinten Mestdagh explains it’s almost like a status symbol when you study fashion. He wanted to do something else than the typical silk-screening and symmetrical composition. “I like to mistranslate the aesthetic a bit by using the ‘wrong’ sort of symbols that you would never normally associate with such a chic scarf, the idea being to make it a bit more street and fun”, he explains.
All his research definitely paid off. We truly love his aesthetic and idea of fashion and we are thrilled to see what he has in store for the future.
