Sneaker Fest: Our 6 Favorites Kicks du Moment

The sneaker industry is one of the hardest to follow. Once you think you’ve seen it all, you’re already behind. To keep a very long list of new kicks short, we enlisted our six favorites du moment. If you’d give us an unlimited credit card (or cash, whatever you prefer) now, these are the ones we’d invest in.

RS Replicant Ozweegos go Belgian

We all know that Raf Simons has a weak spot for his home country, with good reason. After he paid tribute to his New York home with the Independence Day colorway, it’s now Belgium’s turn. The black, yellow and red Replicant Ozweegos come with a limited edition box, including matching socks. Hopefully the sneakers will bring luck to the Red Devils, who’re playing the semi-finals against France tonight.

Nike Air Force 1 Jester XX

One of Nike’s biggest launches this year was “The 1 Reimagined”, a celebration of female empowerment. Our personal favorite out of all the styles was obviously the Jester with its platform sole and deconstructed details. After a series of pastel colorways it recently dropped in black/sonic yellow and triple black. If you want to get your hands on a pair, being quick is the message.

Nike Parra Air Max 1

Almost a decade after he designed his last AM1, Dutch artist Piet Parra is collaborating again with Nike. He had tough shoes to fill, namely his own, since Parra was the guy behind a few of the most epic Air Max 1 colorways. Also, in a landscape where there’s so much going on, how do you make something that stands out in the crowd?

The result became a modern twist on something that looks familiar. Parra combined his characteristic colors and created a cheerful combination of graphic elements. This collab is a breath of fresh air in a landscape filled with dad shoes.

The Nike x Parra collection will launch on July 21st on

Y-3 Kaiwa in bright yellow

Also Y-3’s Kaiwa sneaker got a funky update. After the black and white colorway, it’s now available in yellow, white and silver. If you want to score a pair online, watch out that you don’t catch a fake version because they seem to spread like cockroaches.

Nike M2K Tekno

Taking advantage of the Air Monarch hype, Nike launched a remake of the ultimate dad shoe in May this year. The M2K clearly adopted the looks from its style icon, but has a more modern silhouette. Since this month, it’s also available in men’s sizes.

Maison Margiela’s trashy Fusion sneakers

Martin Margiela was the founding father of everything constructed and deconstructed in fashion. That his legacy continues through the vision of others via the Maison Margiela brand seems obvious. One of the latest examples is the Fusion sneaker. A rather expensive (around 1200€/1600$) piece of footwear that looks like it’s held together by glue, plaster and duct tape. Brilliant in a very trashy way.
